A call to prayer

As we get ready this morning to go fellowship with the saints, I just want to say a quick prayer for those in the path of Hurricane Katrina:

Precious Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus and ask your protection for the poeple in the path of Katrina.  Lord, keep them safe as they leave their homes and possessions and put guardian angels around that area.  We pray that the damage done will be minimal and there will be no lives lost.  Hold your children in the palm of your hand, Lord.  We thank you for your love and compassion for us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen

It's impossible for me to understand the devastation that can be caused by natural disasters, but even in the midst of this, the Lord can bring good from evil.  In the days ahead, we must look for God's blessings and pray for the people affected.  In this way, our light will shine.  A praying nation can bring nothing but good.  Let's all join cyber-hands and pray.

Thank you for this lovely prayer for those in the path of Katrina.  I'm praying with you.  We got some outer rain bands but we are not in its path and glued to the news.  Hugs,
Lisa

I was just praying right before I read your journal Penny.  This Hurricane is a Cat. 5 now.  Wow.

I'd also like to pray that those who have damage, have enough insurance or whatever it takes to get repairs done quickly & completely to that their lives can go back to normal soon.  I can't even imagine how terrible it must be to live in those areas affected by hurricanes and tornados...living in the Pacific Northwest all my life the worst I've experienced is a little earthquake from time to time.

Agreed, and in prayer I join you:

Heavenly Father, we come to you in humble hearts, joined by common concern for those feeling the wrath of our world. Please, bring peace to them, comfort them, and keep them safe. Be for them, the shelter they need. Take them under your wing and lead them safely home. But as always, not our will, but yours, be done. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, one God, with you, forever and ever, Amen.
